"LOST ANGELES" by Stanley Donwood

"There is no future. We have evicted ourselves from our own cities, rendered our agriculture poisonous, criminalized the poor, aggrandized the rich, honored the stupid and ridiculed the intelligent…I have no solutions, no wisdom to offer…Whilst Rome burns, I take up my little chisel and I carve a panoramic apocalypse of my own…and if you want to see it, you’re more than welcome."  Stanley Donwood, 2012

British artist Stanley Donwood unveils his latest bodies of works in a new solo exhibition entitled "Lost Angeles" at Subliminal Projects (Obey Gallery) in LA, Ca. Stanley brings his apoplectic views, thoughts and notions towards the social and behavior trends currently displayed in LA for some time now. While honest to form, his poignant, straight forward and to the point of unavoidable and ever impending doom, gives us a clear example to see what others think of the media frenzied, self-induced metropolis which is Los Angeles.

In addition to his own success, Stanley has gained recognition and even greater fame when he started to design album cover art for Radiohead. During a span of almost 20 years, his creations have been used for 15 singles, 9 EPs and various studio albums including: "The Bends, Kid A, OK Computer" and "Hail to the Thief".  Stanly has also started his own record label under the moniker "Six Inch Records" and has created all the official artwork for the Glastonbury Festival since 2002. Stanley Donwood currently lives and works in Essex, England and was on-hand for his opening in LA on April 28th, 2012.
