The London Police "For Dogs Sake"
Amsterdam Street Artists "The London Police" skip across the pond to team up with Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City and bring us "For Dogs Sake". The London Police combine their love of art, traveling and of course dogs during the course of this exhibition from October 13th to November 3rd, 2012.
If your not familiar with “The London Police,” I don’t mean those English bobbies with batons and silly hats. I mean a pair of street artists (originally from the UK) who call themselves The London Police: Bob Gibson and a guy named Chaz. They make large-scale murals featuring bubble-headed figures they call LADS. in addition for their fondness of dogs. The London Police started in 1998 when big English investors headed to Amsterdam to rejuvenate the visually disappointing streets of the drug capital of the world made famous for its Red Light District and Narco-Tourism. The motive was to combine traveling and making art. From 2002 onward TLP started sending missionaries to all corners of the globe. TLP have recently celebrated 10 years strong in the art world and their work has graced 35 countries at this time. Although various London Policemen have come and gone, founding members Chaz and Bob are still known to walk the streets of every major city in the world spreading love with tags. stickers, murals and graphic style art.
In conjunction with the opening at CHG on October 13th, TLP had a "Dogs on the Catwalk" Fashion show on October 7th at The Dragonflly Bar for dogs only, that featured 13 different custom dog jackets by International artists. Some of the artists included: Shepard Fairey, D*Face, Jeremy Fish, Galo, Hemp Hoodlam, Ovni, Logan Hicks as well as The London Police.
"For Dogs Sake" are entire new works and sculptures by The London Police . The Exhibition is rounded up by a DOGumentary. Which is a 20 min pseudo-documentary into the dogs loving escapades of this duo. The DOGumentary features their alter-egos The "TLP Dog Singers" which are songs devoted to the dogs around the world performed by the TLP.
